Dynamikos Dance Comes to Indianapolis:
Dynamikos is Healing Energy in Motion.
I
praise the dance, for it frees people from the heaviness of matter and binds the isolated to community. I praise the
dance, which demands everything: health and a clear spirit and a buoyant soul. Dance is a transformation of space, of
time, of people, who are in constant danger of becoming all brain, will, or feeling. Dancing demands a whole person, one
who is firmly anchored in the center of his life, who is not obsessed by lust for people and things and the demon of
isolation in his own ego. Dancing demands a freed person, one who vibrates with the equipoise of all his powers. I
praise the dance. O man, learn to dance, or else the angels in heaven will not know what to do with you.
~
Saint Augustine
The theory of Dynamic Dance is based upon the idea that "the body,
mind and spirit are inseparable." By moving the Universal Healing Energy or Ki through the entire organism, the body mind
and spirit responds differently. Healing is a dynamic process and all treatment works by facilitating a natural
process that allows for healing to take place. The roots of illness is not always in the physical. We can loose our equilibrium
in more than one plane of our being. Illness often begins on the emotional and spiritual level and therefore healing is best
facilitated when all three areas are addressed. In Chinese medicine they describe illness that is in the visable and inviable
field. The call this energy Ki and wellness comes from moving that energy. Music and dance are married to each
other. Music has been able to sooth th savage soul and move us to esctasy and exhilaration. Music naturally moves us into
physcial and spiritual movement. Why esle would the Sufi whirl? When we have love our balance live is in balance. When we
are out of balance life begins to spiral we may enter the sprial to regain our equilibrium. Dynamikos explores
interpetive dancve: sacred geomety, estatic dance, trance dance, archetypes and more.In Dynamikos Dance:Body,
mind and spirit interact, so that a change in movement will affect total functioning Movement reflects personality
and creativityMovement releases endorphins and emotional tension, and increses flexability Group
movement contains a symbolic function and as such can be evidence of unconscious processMovement and improvisation
allows each individual to experiment with new ways of being Allows for the recapitulation of early object relationships
by virtue of the largely non-verbal mediation of the latter"Through the unity of the body, mind, and spirit.
Dynamic Dance provides a sense of wholeness to all individualsThe Creative ProcessThe creative
process is comprised of four stages which occur during Dynamic Dance. Each stage contains a smaller set of goals which correlate
to the larger purpose of Dynamic Dance. The stages and goals of Dynamic Dance vary with each individual. Although the stages
are progressive, the stages are usually revisited several times throughout the entire Dynamic Dance process. The four stages
are:Preparation: the warm-up stage, getting centered and letting go of the external world, safety is established
with grounding and breathing exercises. Incubation: relaxed, let go of conscious control, movements become
symbolic. Illumination: meanings become apparent, can have positive and negative effects. In chaos theory we
must break down the old sometimes to create the new. Evaluation: discuss significance of the process, imapct
it has on stage of life or life process, prepare to end session. Dynamic Dance can be used to treat serious
disorders and diseases. Although Dynamic Dance is promoted to reduce stress and center the mind and body, this therapy is
very effective in helping to heal other disabilities and diseases. These include:Autism: therapists connect
